What to Include in a Rubber Part RFQ

A practical drawing and requirements checklist for a useful quotation.

Define the part

Include a dimensioned drawing, revision number, quantity and the mating-part details that control fit. A 3D model is helpful, but critical tolerances should be stated on the drawing.

Describe the operating conditions

State temperature, pressure, movement and exact contact media. Include cleaning fluids, outdoor exposure and the required service life where known.

Set the acceptance requirements

Identify the material or compound specification, hardness test scale, required inspections, documentation and sample approval process. Mark unknown values for review instead of guessing.

Plan quantities and delivery

Separate initial samples, first production order and annual demand. State the requested delivery date so tooling and sample approval can be considered.
